Celebrate Earth Month with Green Beauty!

by Federico Beauty Institute on April 21, 2011

In honor of Earth Month, Federico Beauty Institute is putting its green foot forward. In addition to our numerous awards in the industry for our environmental awareness, we’re constantly working to make our services and business practices more environmentally friendly year-round.

In order to make our commitment to going green a reality, Federico Beauty Institute has installed solar panels, including an 88kv photovoltaic system over our carport as a source of electricity for our work and shade for up to 41 cars. We also have natural light with skylights and manage temperatures with ceiling fans. When that’s not an option, we use compact and T-8 fluorescent lights.

Federico Beauty Institute also employs green measures in our everyday operations. Our students and employees are encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible by recycling paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum, and batteries. We try to cut down on the use of paper by sending important notices via email, reusing large envelopes and folders, and encouraging the use of personal coffee mugs. Federico Beauty Institute has gone the extra mile in conserving energy and water while reducing waste and pollution by investing in sustainable solutions for everyday use.

Our environmental commitment has been noticed, but we are continually striving for improvement. In 2008 we received awards from the Sacramento Environmental Commission, Breathe California, Doris Matsui and SMUD for our conservation-minded practices. We even received the Sacramento Sustainable Business “Business of the Year Award!” Even though we’ve received these awards, it doesn’t mean we’re ready to rest on our laurels just yet.

We’ve partnered with the Business Environmental Resource Center and the Sacramento Sustainable Business program to keep moving forward with reducing, reusing and recycling in every possible way. We believe in preserving and protecting the earth’s natural resources and will continue to employ practices that reduce our impact on the environment.

For Earth Day and every day, Federico Beauty Institute is looking forward to a brighter future for ourselves and the world. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve our practices and environment in the ways in which we interact with our surroundings, and encourage our staff and students to explore ways to be green.

You guys should be congratulated! Not only are you doing your bit to save the environment but it sounds like you are having a great time whilst at it! As an installer or skylights and natural lighting systems I am glad to hear that you have installed a skylight and are saving on energy usage this way. Keep up the good work!

If everyone did something along these lines for Earth Month, the planet would be much better off. I currently use Photovoltaic cells to heat my water and thinking of ways to do more.
Fantastic job, well done.

Congratulations! You will not believe the money you are going to save. The company I work for installed enough solar panels to totally offset their electric bill and then some. Reducing expenses will help Federico Beauty Institute stay competitive and even save jobs. Nice work!

I recently read an article about the energy reductions employed in the Danish embassy in Seoul. They not only reduced the number of fluorescent bulbs by 50% but then switched to LED lighting, reducing their energy consumption by 30% and of course, they last up to twice as long. They are now looking at sustainability as well and installed low energy consuming hand dryers in all of the bathrooms.
Just a few ideas ;)
