RIC Star, Jonathan W.

Have you ever been somewhere and thought to yourself “Man, they have impeccable customer service!”? Well , that is my thought literally every time I order something from the Cafe so when Jonathan W. was announced as our next RIC Star I wasn’t the least bit surprised. Jonathan is extremely respectful to all customers, inspires us with such a positive attitude everyday and creates a great experience whether you’re eating in the cafe for the first time or all the time.

DR: How did it feel when you were announced as RIC Star? Were you shocked?
JW: I was really shocked. We already have such an amazing staff throughout the entire school that it really could be anyone nominated. I am definitely humbled and grateful to the ones that picked me.

DR: What is your job title?
JW: Cafe Cashier

DR: What’s your favorite thing about working at Federico?
JW: It’s definitely the people that I meet. We have such a diverse student body and staff that you get to meet amazing people from all walks of life. I’ve been here for quite some time and it’s nice seeing the students that you knew way back are doing really well for themselves and are happy with the profession they chose.

DR: Do you eat at the Café every day?
JW: I’m trying to eat a little healthier nowadays, but the loaded fries and burgers have always been my weakness!

DR: What’s your favorite item on the menu and why?
JW: Loaded fries! It has such a mix of flavors. You got the kick of garlic, the spiciness of the Sriracha, but at the same time the ranch cools down the heat from the Sriracha.

DR: If you could change one thing about working here, what would it be?
JW: My schedule! I’m sure everyone here knows I’m not the best morning person!

DR: Do you have a favorite place to travel to?
JW: I love going to the Santa Cruz area and hitting up the beach at Half Moon Bay. It’s a great place to decompress and relieve any stress you have.

DR: If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you title it?
JW: A book about my weaknesses so reading them would motivate me to better myself. I don’t have nearly enough going on to write a book about myself!

DR: If your life was being made into a movie, who would you cast to play yourself?
JW: Definitely Ryan Reynolds. I wish I was half the smart ass and witty as him!

DR: Do you have any hidden talents?
JW: Beyond getting everything done at the last second and procrastinating? Definitely not!  Although I wish that were actually a talent.

DR: What’s on the top of your bucket list?
JW: My number one is to finish up my current semester and start my summer break!

DR: What’s the funniest joke you’ve ever heard?
JW: There are too many, and most of them are probably not appropriate to say in an interview, but I’ll humor you.
How do you count cows?……. With a cowculator!

The next time you order your lunch from the Cafe, congratulate Jonathan and let him know he’s doing a great job!
