Julia is a current Esthetics student and Student Ambassador as well as the former Alumni Services Coordinator here at Federico Beauty Institute. We sat down to chat about how she’s enjoying her journey here.
JNS: How big is the difference between working here and being a student here?
JC: It’s definitely interesting being on the other side and seeing what the students experience daily! After working in the office for almost three years I thought I knew everything about this place but I am learning as I go along that that’s not the case.
JNS: What’s your favorite thing you’ve learned so far as an Esthetician?
JC: Waxing is by far my favorite! I love being able to see the immediate difference! Plus ripping out people’s hair is pretty badass. Wait, can I say that?!?
JNS: Haha, I think so? We will find out! Has it been a strange adjustment?
JC: The only part I struggle with is parking in the employee parking lot instead of the student lot, and clocking out for an employee lunch out of habit! Lol
JNS: Do you have any insider tips on how to get the most out of your time at Federico?
JC: Listening is key! I love the quote from Stephen R. Covey, in ‘ The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change’ “Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” I feel like that’s something we all need to learn. Also be sure to soak up every second of your first and second phases. The majority of your theory is during those phases and its sooooo much information that will help you during your remaining phases as well as in the real world.
JNS: What’s your favorite product for yourself or your clients?
JC: The whole Bioelements product line is awesome! You are able to mix and match and add certain additives to fit the clients exact needs. It really helps make clients feel special.
JNS: Do you have a favorite beauty related Instagram?
JC: @tandylashesbyjannie! Why, you ask? Because she’s a Federico Beauty Institute alumni and she does AMAZING lashes!
JNS: I love the Federico alumni love! What you like the most about being at Federico?
JC: The people! Students, staff, clients… all of them make everyday here memorable. I love my #federicofamily.
JNS: I’m stealing that hashtag for our Instagram, just a heads up. What are you planning on doing after graduation?
JC: I plan on coming back to enroll in the Barber program!
