In 2007 I was a reservist in the United State Air Force and was deployed to Iraq. When I returned home I knew the timing was right to pursue my dreams.

I did my research and knew that the cosmetology program at FBI would be the perfect fit for me. I graduated in 2010, and I passed my state board exam immediately. The very next day I was hired as a stylist at an Aveda Salon, and found out I was pregnant with my second child. 

I also applied for a sales rep position at Hairdreams Extension, in Austria. The CEO of the company saw my resume, interviewed me via Skype, and immediately hired me. As part of the new job, I began traveling around the country to train stylists on how to apply the extensions. 

Fast forward to one year later, I have opened my own salon and become a national educator for Hairdreams Extensions. Life is happening fast, both personally and professionally, and I couldn't be happier about it. I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I always knew I wanted to own my own salon, 

When I began to feel disenchanted with my position at the salon, I found a commercial building for sale in Rocklin,  and locked into a four-year lease. On my 29th birthday, the Urban Hair Lounge opened its doors for business. 

So far, business is booming, with new walk-in clients almost every day. I've hired six full-time stylists, I want the Urban Hair Lounge to be more than just a salon, I want my business to be known for mentoring future stylists. Anytime I have an educational workshop at the salon, I make sure to extend the offer to other FBI students.
